Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know about ClaroSpain.

Can ClaroSpain understand every Spanish letter?

ClaroSpain recognises the most common kinds of official post from Spain: tax assessments, traffic fines, municipal charges, seizure orders, social security notifications and more. For unusual letters we say what we do and do not recognise, and when professional help is wise.

Can I upload a photo of a letter?

Yes. Take a photo with your phone and upload it. Make sure there is enough light and the shot is sharp and straight.

Can I upload several letters at once?

Yes. Select them all at once or drag them into the box together. They are read one by one and you see per letter whether it succeeded. Each letter costs one credit.

Do you keep related letters together?

Yes. Letters from the same authority go together into one case file, with an overview of what is running, what is still to come and what to watch for. The same letter uploaded twice only counts once.

Does it work with a PDF too?

Yes. That is handy when you received the letter digitally through DEHú, the Spanish government notification system, or by email.

Is ClaroSpain a gestor?

No. ClaroSpain does not replace a gestor. We explain what your letter means and which steps are possible. For complex matters we recommend a gestor or a lawyer.

Is this legal advice?

No. ClaroSpain provides information and explanation, not legal or tax advice. When in doubt, consult a professional. We also never pretend a member of staff has personally reviewed your letter when that is not the case.

What if my letter is too complicated?

Then we say which parts we do and do not recognise, and recommend professional help. We always tell you as much as we do understand.

Can ClaroSpain draft a reply in Spanish?

Yes. We draft a letter in formal Spanish, with a translation: a request for information, a formal objection, or a confirmation of intent to pay. Always check the content before sending.

Which Spanish authorities are recognised?

Among others the Agencia Tributaria (AEAT), DGT, Seguridad Social (INSS and TGSS), Catastro, municipalities, provinces, regional governments and the Oficina de Extranjería.

What happens to my documents?

Your letter is stored securely and used only to explain it to you. We do not share it with third parties. After 90 days the document is deleted automatically, or sooner if you delete it yourself.

Can I ask questions about my letter?

Yes. After the explanation you can ask questions about what it says, using a suggested question or your own.

Still a question about your own letter? Upload it and ask directly.
